I often find myself wishing I was building more in public.
Maybe this is due to some of the thought leaders around business and productivity that I listen to.
The idea of sharing what you are working on, and having people find value in your learnings, potentially shortcutting their progress to a meaningful destination is intriguing and rewarding to me.
I haven’t been the best at this.
You can see that I wrote a lot in 2024, and it’s now June 2025 and I just last week wrote my first post of the year.
I’m balancing giving myself grace, while also instilling new opportunities to write and share more.
In fact, I actually share new learnings in some of the masterminds I’m a part of all the time using Loom.
However, there is something special about putting words to proverbial “paper“ on my site.
Something… more permanent feeling.
It takes time and intentional thought to turn an idea into something people get value from and are entertained enough to continue reading.
Plus, writing regularly sharpens your memory, clarifies your thoughts, boosts creativity, enhances focus, and deepens self-awareness—all while improving emotional regulation and communication skills.
Sounds like a cheat code to deeper work and more impact in this world.
Now, the barrier is lowered
Yesterday, I was researching how to block Spotify’s image and video CDN vis DNS so that I am not distracted when listening to music while working on the important projects God has put before me.
Boring, I know.
But I stumbled on something really special in the process.
(Ironically, it ended up being a distraction)
I found Pika.page, a super simple blog platform.
No more fooling around with Obsidian Publish (my previous website provider) trying to get images to display properly or links to connect up right.
Pika just works.
It works so well in fact, that I migrated my entire website, content, updated DNS records, and went live with a brand new design in less than an hour.
The writing interface is so simple with zero distractions.
It’s even optimized for mobile — which allowed me to setup an iOS Shortcut on my phone Homescreen to open up a new post and save it as a draft to capture new ideas. (of which I now have 5 ideas waiting to be fleshed out)
I’ve actually been using shortcuts on iOS and macOS a LOT lately. I will write about this soon.
Replacement for social media
My original vision for this site was to replace social media usage for me. Which I’ve been extremely successful in doing thanks to a $50 device called Brick.
However, I’ve just stopped sharing (and writing) all together.
Not ideal.
But now, the friction to write is much lower and I’m excited to be more consistent again.
Cheers until then.
